Short Message: What is Christmas?

By Ianpassion

I have been meditating...CHRISTMAS.

Without the Christmas tree, the colored lights, and the gifts prepared by my wife, I would never feel it is coming.

In the Philippines and other countries, Christmas is always a joyous celebration with our loved ones, friends, and churches. Everyone who was exposed to this culture, understand what I mean.

As Christmas is approaching, Christmas music is almost played everywhere, so it ups our mood and made us feel excited.

But if you are in our community (miles away from big cities), it is difficult to feel the spirit of the season, especially if your Christmas is more on music, decoration, and food. Although those things are important, they are not the primary reason for the season.

What is Christmas by the way? There are three things I reflected as I thought about Christmas gifts, Christmas lights, and the Christmas tree. They can be a good analogy of the Son's birth, His light and the Father's love for mankind.

I see the gifts as a symbol of the free gift of eternal life (Ephesians 2:8).

The lights can signify that the light of the world
now dwelling in our hearts (John 8:12).

Lastly, the Christmas tree carries the message that the Son died on behalf of us (Romans 5:8).

Considering all of what the Son had done for us, as I mentioned above, we should be filled with joy and thanksgiving in this season.

Instead of focusing on external factors, and feeling exhausted from preparations and activities, we should approach this season differently.

The Son is the main reason for the season. Do not let our predicaments, pressures, problems, and busyness overwhelm the true meaning of Christmas.

Be exceedingly blessed in this coming Christmas 2018.
