Delicious Street Food in Hatyai, South of Thailand

By Ianpassion

Thailand will always amaze you with its lots of choices of food especially those are on the walking streets. If you are already in the deep South of Thailand, Hatyai is the best choice for this.

Hatyai is the main city in the South, a gateway to the southern bordering countries - Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia. It is known as a little California in the South.

Usually, visitors flock into the city for a new experience, culture, shopping, entertainment, and of course for delicious affordable Thai food. It is a stopover for those who do a visa run at Thai-Malay border.

As I am currently living in Satun,  a rural province on the south-west coast of Thailand, there is a time that I miss the lively city. An escape from the village even just once a month is worth taking.

With my family, we went to Hatyai. And as we arrived in the city for sure we don't want to miss the street food. Aside they are not expensive, there are lots of choices that can appetite and fill our hungry stomachs.

Of course, there are many air-conditioned Thai restaurants around, but most of the time we preferred to eat outdoor. Not only we like eating outside, but it also a way of training our kids to be flexible and not choosy when they grew up (Proverbs 22:6).

There are three-night markets in Hatyai famous for their street food. First is the Lee Garden Plaza, second is the Kunsong, and the third is at the Greenway.

Various types of traditional Thai food are available: fries, grills, spicy, steam, curries, desserts, nuts, fruits, drinks, snacks, exotics, and noodles.

I provide the GPS here to easily navigate these places.
