Manang is one of the most beautiful districts in Satun Province. It is known for its towering mountains, dazzling rivers, turquoise waterfalls, virgin forest, indigenous tribe, and the largest cave in Asia.
I have stayed in Manang district for 5 years now and have seen its fast development. It used to be a town that if you want to go shopping and pay your bills you need to travel to the city.
However, nowadays, it has now its department stores, hardware and construction materials stores, covered court market, wide bridge, paved roads, 7 eleven, banks, ATM machines, western union, fishing area, resorts, restaurants, coffee shops, and more.
What makes this village vibrant at night is the newly opened night market every Thursday. It is located behind the Manang bus stop, open from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM.
Aside from various local Thai foods, fruits, and drinks displayed, there are as well brand new and secondhand shops of clothes, shoes, watches, kitchenware, house decors, and more. Booths are made usually from tarps or bamboos.
For kids looking for amusement, an inflammable playground located at the most north of the walking street is waiting for them.
