I think it is not too late to write about our trip after our wedding on April 8, 2013. Actually, we planned to go to Vietnam but the Father did not allow this to happen. We went to Lipe island in Satun instead.
Koh Lipe is one of the most famous islands in the south of Thailand located in the sea of Satun province near the border of Malaysia. Our trip to this island after our wedding turned out to be one of the most remarkable moments in our lives as a newlywed couple.
The weather was sunny and windy. Our trip started at Pak Bara Pier, Satun. We booked a public speedboat, which cost 800 Baht/person for our back-and-forth ride. The trip takes 2 hours.
As we were on our way to the island, islets covered with dense tropical forest, rocky coastlines, dazzling waves, turquoise blue ocean, splashed waters as hit by the engine paddles, and sea birds swinging and diving joined us rejoicing. Deep in our hearts, we were praising the Father for this wonderful experience.
We thought that we would go directly to Koh Lipe. Our speedboat docked at Koh Khai, a small island before reaching Koh Lipe. We got off and walked barefoot on this powdery sand shore. Our feet were wet from the soft waves. It is a belief that couples who renewed their bows here remain together for a lifetime. And for fun, we did!
After two hours, we were finally at Lipe Island. Since we did not book ahead of our accommodation we searched for where to sleep. We walked through the walking street until we reached the opposite side of the island. Beautiful! Almost everything was new to us. We never knew that this island in the south of Thailand is very multicultural.
We walked farther away from the walking street and we were in complete solitude. Right in front of us was the beautiful horizon, a vast ocean meeting the skyline. No noise from pubs and discos, and only heard the waves splashing the shore and the wind whistling in our ears.
Watching the sunset was one of the most meaningful things we experienced. It was awesome to see how the blue ocean gradually changed its color to red, and later darkness swallowed the daylight that we could only see the stars sparkling in the sky.
Island hopping was the other thing that we did not want to miss. We booked a boat that could take us around the neighboring islands. We did several stops at different locations where we swam and snorkeled, explored black stones island, and dived in crystal clear waters.
Three things that reminded us:
1. This trip reminded us that the Father never forsakes His children. He is with us, and His plan is always wonderful.
2. Marriage is a gift from above. I cannot imagine how life will be if I am still single and has no family until now.
3. We truly appreciate our true friends and families who were with us helping and praying through thick and thin of life.
