Visited "Ko Sarai", Amazing Shell Island in Satun Thailand

By Ianpassion

Baan Ko Sarai is an island that is 30 minutes' travel by boat from Chebilang Pier, Satun. There is no need to book a boat ahead because there are always boats available all day long.

Although we have been in Satun for quite a long time already, it was our first time to be on this island. Baan Ko Sarai is blessed with culture, community, and seafood.

We were welcomed by our host family in their wooden house elevated from the seawaters. They are fishermen. Very simple lifestyle but very friendly and very caring.  We truly appreciate their hospitality.

What was most interesting on this trip was one of the nearby islands of Koh Sarai. I think it is a sandbar with 1 kilometer wide. Our host family took us there at 6 in the morning. Why so early? We were told that we needed to be there before high tide.

Upon arriving we saw lots of people scratching something in the vast shore. We asked ourselves, "What are they doing?" We then found out that this island is like a graveyard of shells pilling up in more than decades and the locals were harvesting them for food. There were so many that in every scratch they go at least one or two shells.

So beautiful!

We were filled with awe on how our Almighty Father cares mankind regardless of their geographical location, language, and culture.

King David says, "He gives food to every creature and His love endureth forever" (Psalm 136:5).

Amen!

Walk on the water? I was thinking. The vast ocean is in front of me. It is impossible that I could walk like him and not sink. But Peter thought he could do it that night. This guy is a dreamer.  Among the twelve in the boat, only Peter had the guts to walk on the water.

We walked farther away from the walking street and we were in complete solitude. Right in front of us was the beautiful horizon, vast ocean meeting the skyline. No noise from pubs and music, and only heard the waves splashing the shore and wind whistling in our ears.
