This Year, 2025, is the Year of Jubilee

The picture was taken while I was preparing breakfast on the balcony of our accommodation.
This picture speaks to me about the future as I look at the horizon where the mountain ranges and the blue sky meet.

This year, I believe will be the
Year of Jubilee, which a year of restoration, reaping, and spiritual renewal. In the Scripture, the Year of Jubilee is a time when the Father Almighty commands a release of debts, restoration of land, and freedom from burdens. It is a year of celebration, forgiveness, and a fresh start. I believe this year will be a time for us to harvest what we have sown, the efforts, prayers, and hard work we’ve poured into our lives, families, careers, and ministries over the past years. I am filled with excitement and anticipation as I see in faith that this year will bring increase and fruitfulness, as the Father promises come to life in our lives.

In the past, I’ve thought about the prophet Habakkuk, who struggled to see the fruits of his labor, much like many of us do. He worked hard, yet he couldn’t immediately see the results. But he didn’t lose hope, he chose to trust the Father's plan. Habakkuk knew that even though it may not seem like things were happening in the natural, The Father was working behind the scenes. He had faith that the Father's timing and plans are always perfect, even when we can’t yet see or feel it. In this, I see a powerful connection to the Year of Jubilee, because sometimes we feel like we are sowing in tears, facing hardship, or waiting for restoration, but the Jubilee reminds us that in the Father's timing, the harvest comes. The debts are forgiven, and restoration follows.

As we reflect on the Year of Jubilee, we can be encouraged by the words of King David in Psalm 126:5-6: “Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.” This verse speaks to the hope of restoration, even if we sow in tears, the Father promises we will eventually reap with joy. This season, we are reminded that perseverance through the tough times will bring a harvest of joy and blessing.

The Year of Jubilee is also a year of freedom, freedom from the things that have held us back, whether it's unhealed wounds, broken relationships, or unfulfilled dreams. In this year, we trust that the Father will break chains, restore what was lost, and grant us new beginnings. As we face our own challenges—be it health issues, relationship struggles, work difficulties, or uncompleted tasks, we can trust that step by step, the Father will lead us toward completion and restoration, just as He promised in the Year of Jubilee.

Sometimes the hardest trials are those when we feel rejected or abandoned, especially when people we expect to care or love us fail to do so. Many people live in pain because of unmet expectations, but the Year of Jubilee reminds us to put our trust fully in the Father Almighty, who will never disappoint or abandon us. We can rely on Him, knowing He is our true source of peace and provision. As Jeremiah 17:7-8 says: "Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit."

So, as we enter this Year of Jubilee, let us embrace faith, perseverance, and trust in the Father's promises. Let’s step forward in confidence, knowing that even if the past has been challenging, this year is a year of restoration, increase, and harvest. Just as the Jubilee in Scripture was a time of liberty and restoration, let this year be a time when the Father  in heaven abundant blessings flow into our lives.

Happy New Year! May it be your Year of Jubilee!
